Privacy Policy

KinetiPlate AI ("we," "our," or "the App") is operated by Mark Slavkin. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Email address and display name (via Firebase Authentication)
Firebase User ID (UID)
Authentication method (email/password or Google Sign-In)

Profile Information (provided by you)

Date of birth, gender, height, weight
Fitness goal (e.g. build muscle, lose fat)
Daily calorie and macronutrient targets
Preferred number of meals per day

App Usage Data

Pantry items you add (ingredient names, categories, custom nutrition values)
AI-generated meal plans and your meal completion status
Grocery suggestions requested and viewed
Subscription status and plan type

Weight History (Optional)

If you log your weight on the Progress screen, the App stores a time-series of your weight values along with the date each was logged. This is used solely to display your weight chart to you and to recalculate your daily calorie and macronutrient targets when your weight changes. Each weight value is stored as kilograms regardless of which unit you use to enter it.

GDPR Special Category Data (EU Users): Weight history, when combined with date stamps and goal information, may constitute "data concerning health" under Article 9 of the GDPR. We process this data on the basis of your explicit consent, given by entering values into the Progress screen. You may delete all weight history at any time by deleting your account (Settings > Delete My Account), which cascades the deletion server-side. Backups containing this data are purged within 30 days of the deletion request.

Meal Photos (Optional, with consent)

The App includes an optional "Share Your Creation" feature that lets you upload a photo of a meal you have prepared. Before each upload, you are shown an in-app consent screen and must explicitly tick a checkbox to proceed. If you choose to upload:

The photo is stored on our servers along with your user ID and the meal name.
An admin reviews each photo before it becomes visible to other users.
Approved photos may be shown to other users who prepare the same meal.
You may request removal at any time by emailing privacy@kinetiplateai.com or by deleting your account, which removes all your photos as part of the cascade deletion.

Device Permissions (Optional)

With your explicit permission, the App may request access to your device's Camera or Photo Library to enable the meal photo feature. You can revoke this access at any time in your device settings. Photos are not used for facial recognition and are not sold to third parties.

What We Do NOT Collect: We do not collect health records, medical diagnoses, biometric data, location data, contacts, or any data from other apps on your device. We do not collect photos beyond meal photos you explicitly upload via the in-app consent flow. KinetiPlate AI is a fitness utility, not a medical application.

2. How We Use Your Information

Authentication: To create and secure your account via Firebase Authentication (operated by Google).
Meal Plan Generation: Your pantry items, nutritional targets, and fitness goal are sent to Google's Gemini API to generate personalised meal plans. This data is sent as a text prompt and is not stored by Google for model training (per Google's API Terms of Service).
App Functionality: To save your profile, pantry, meal plans, and completion history so they persist across sessions.
Subscription Management: To verify your subscription status and enforce usage limits.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

Firebase Authentication (Google) — user login and identity management
Google Gemini API — AI-powered meal plan and grocery suggestion generation
RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management
Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics (Google) — to monitor app performance, track fatal errors, and understand basic user engagement. This data is anonymised and aggregated.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

4. AI-Generated Content Disclosure

Meal plans, recipes, and grocery suggestions in KinetiPlate AI are generated by Google's Gemini large language model. The AI processes your pantry items and nutritional targets to produce personalised content. AI-generated nutritional values are estimates and may not be 100% accurate. We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or suitability of any AI-generated content. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant dietary changes.

Calorie and macronutrient targets are general estimates calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for average healthy adults. They do not account for medical conditions, eating disorders, pregnancy, medications, or individual metabolic differences.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secured servers using industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
Firebase Authentication tokens are used to authenticate every API request.
We retain your data only for as long as your account is active.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data stored in the App (visible in your Profile and Settings).
Correct your personal data at any time by editing your profile.
Delete your account and all associated data permanently. You can do this directly from Settings > Delete My Account inside the App. This will wipe your profile, pantry, meal plans, completion history, and subscription records from our servers and remove your Firebase Authentication account.

7. GDPR Compliance (European Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Legal basis: We process your data based on your consent (account creation) and legitimate interest (providing the service).
Right to erasure: You can delete all your data at any time via the in-app "Delete My Account" button.
Right to portability: Contact us to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
Right to lodge a complaint: You may contact your local data protection authority.

8. CCPA Compliance (California Users)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request its deletion, and opt out of its sale. We do not sell your personal information. To exercise your rights, use the in-app account deletion feature or contact us at the email below.

9. Children's Privacy

KinetiPlate AI is designed for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will promptly delete it. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy here and updating the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
